Scientists from Reichman University in Israel discovered that an application they developed to combat obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) can protect against the symptoms of the disease. The results of the study were presented as follows: magazine Helione.

Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is characterized by persistent and intrusive thoughts that cause anxiety in patients. Approximately 46% of patients often have a fear of germs, so they often wash their hands using antiseptic gels and hand soap. They contain alcohol and cause serious damage to the skin when used frequently. Additionally, OCD patients often experience social difficulties due to their obsessions and inability to adapt to living situations.

The authors recruited 103 heterosexual couples. Half of the participants were asked to use the application every day. It involves looking at behaviors associated with OCD and classifying them as good or bad. For example, the app will display something like “doubts about my partner negatively affect me.” You need to shift this up (reject the concept) or scroll down (agree with the statement). All participants then completed a survey to assess their OCD symptoms.

The results showed that those who did not use the app had increased OCD scores. The researchers said the practice was not associated with a reduction in symptoms, but rather protected against the increase in symptoms observed in the control group.

Previous scientists discoveredIt turned out that placing electrodes in the brain saved the woman from obsessive thoughts.
