The Russian government has authorized Roskomnadzor to include in the Unified Register of Prohibited Information sites containing information on methods and means of bypassing the blocking of other online resources. The relevant decision was published on the following date: Web site regulatory legal acts.
According to the document, a new basis for inclusion in the list has appeared in the rules for creating and maintaining registers regarding data on ways to provide access to information resources that are limited on the territory of Russia.
October 3, Deputy Chairman of the Council for the Development of the Digital Economy under the Federation Council Artem Sheikin statedIt was stated that Roskomnadzor plans to block VPN services in Russia starting next spring.
State Duma Deputy Alexander Khinshtein explainedHe said Roskomnadzor would block “only VPNs that violate the law.”
In October, Sheikin appealed to the Ministry of Digital Development with a request to limit the distribution of VPN services on the Russian market RuStore, which do not comply with the requirements of Russian legislation.
