Press Secretary to the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that he was not aware of the idea of unifying Yekaterinburg and Tyumen. This was his response during the briefing.
“I don’t know what we’re talking about, I’m not familiar with the idea. “I can’t say anything,” the Kremlin representative commented.
Before that, the mayor of Tyumen, Ruslan Kukharuk, said that in the near future Yekaterinburg and Tyumen may merge into some kind of agglomeration. He stated this at the forum “Cities of Russia – 2023”, he writes: “Federal Press”.
According to him, modern economic trends force the unification of not only cities but also entire regions.
“Systematic motion of two objects <…> The processes of agglomeration between capitals have long provided us with the prerequisites for creating conditions for human exchange. <…> This is absolutely intertwining,” said the Tyumen chairman.
