Anti-fraud expert Alexey Sizov said in an interview that employees of the Central Bank of Russia (CBRF) will never call ordinary citizens “Lente.ru”. He shared the main signs that can distinguish a fraudster from a representative of a financial institution.
As the analyst said, the Central Bank of Russia does not interact with individuals, since its customers are only banks of the Russian Federation. The Central Bank does not have any communication or contact with real and legal persons served by certain financial institutions. Therefore, any appeal by representatives of the Central Bank to Russian citizens can be considered illegitimate, since citizens do not have any relations with the Central Bank of the Russian Federation.
If we talk about calls from regular banks, the expert pointed out a few criteria you should pay attention to. It is important to first check the number the call is coming from. Except for calls with personal managers, the call must come from a known number. These numbers are currently almost impossible to spoof, as they are protected at the telecom operator level.
In case of doubt, it is recommended to listen to the information received and contact the bank personally and call back to the known phone number specified in the contract or bank card to clarify the information.
Because of fraudsters in the State Duma called for control for transferring money from pensioners’ accounts.
