This morning, nine migrants sailing in a boat a mile off in Altea were rescued by Salvamento Marítimo. It was the Civil Guard who detected that the boat was approaching the shore at dawn and sent a patrol boat from the Maritime Directorate.
The rescue was carried out shortly before 8am by Alicante-based Salvamar Leo de Salvamento Marítimo. The place where the rescued people were transferred is in the port of the capital Alicante, where a team from the Red Cross is waiting to provide them with first medical aid.
This boat joins a boat traveling with nine people, including a nursing baby, that was stopped three miles from Arenales del Sol on Monday afternoon.
