Burnout (18%), severe stress (16%) and decreased employee engagement (7%) are the main team challenges employers will face in 2023. This is shown by a study by Renaissance Insurance Group (MOEX: RENI), the results of which were reviewed by socialbites.ca.
At the same time, only 20% of surveyed employers monitor the psychological mood of their employees, and one seventh of them (14%) draw conclusions based on internal surveys. The most common problems were professional burnout (18%) and high levels of stress (16%) in the team.
“Often employers are looking for solutions to problems with the situation in the team, but this is not the problem itself, but a consequence of it. The real top 5 reasons for the toxic climate in which psychologists have to work in the well-being program are burnout (18% of cases), high levels of stress (16%) and anxiety (14%) and lack of knowledge and skills to prevent mental illness among managers, problems in the team (14%) ) and decreased work engagement (7%). These are the main triggers of miscommunication in a team,” commented Yulia Galanicheva, general manager of voluntary health insurance at Renaissance Insurance.
One third (34%) of Russian companies purchase special programs for psychological assistance to their employees. The classic solution to relieve tension in a team is face-to-face and remote meetings with a psychologist (43%). However, one in four employers (25%) are trying to make help even more accessible and are organizing a psychological support line. One in six companies (18%) hold conferences and webinars on mental health issues, and 9% procure coaching programs for employees.
Since the beginning of 2023, Russian employers have begun to pay more attention to the mental state of their employees (+12% from January to October 2023). Interestingly, conferences, seminars and webinars where doctors talk about ways to provide support to a team have become the most popular formats. The second place is the creation of a psychological helpline, and the third place is coaching managers to deal with the mental state of their employees.
As a rule, just over half of employers (52%) believe that everyone should have access to such solutions, but it seems that employees are in no hurry to take advantage of the available opportunities. Only 5 to 20% of the entire workforce will attend lectures and seminars or see a psychologist; this statistic is confirmed by 14% of employers.
