AA Smorodintseva Dmitry Lioznov, Ministry of Health of Russia.

“This is a vector vaccine, the clinical trials of the second phase have been completed. We are now analyzing these results and preparing a report to submit to the regulatory authorities,” he said.

According to the professor, the aim of the first and second stages is to evaluate safety and immunogenicity (ability to trigger an immune response).

“It is already clear that the vaccine is safe and immunogenic. The question of its effectiveness is the result of the next, third stage of the study, which should involve a large number of volunteers,” added Lioznov.

He announced that the flu virus in the vaccine will be changed annually so that patients can be protected from both Covid-19 and flu simultaneously. The expert concluded that the development of the vaccine used the N-protein of the coronavirus to trigger an immune response in the body.
