In the economic fishing zone of Japan, excessive concentrations of harmful substances appeared after the release of water from the Fukushima-1 nuclear power plant. This was stated by RIA News Chairman of Rosrybolovstvo Ilya Shestakov on the sidelines of the Eurasian Economic Forum in Verona.
As Shestakov said, the institution closely monitors its economic region. He noted that Rosrybolovstvo has carried out a lot of research since the accident at the nuclear power plant, and from the moment the water was drained, the Russian research ship started to take in water, examine it and carry out all the necessary analyses.
According to him, all indicators are normal in the Russian economic zone and the fish there are “clean and safe”.
“It is difficult for us to judge what is happening to the Japanese. But there are already signals of certain excesses in the concentration of harmful substances,” the head of the department added.
On November 2, the operator of the Japanese nuclear power plant Fukushima-1 announced about the beginning of the discharge into the ocean of the third batch of water used to cool the emergency station’s reactors. At this stage, approximately 7.8 thousand tons of water is planned to be discharged until November 20.
