What does winning such a competition mean to you? Did you wait?
There are many people who say they clearly see this. It was obvious to everyone but me. Different things are happening and I have a record of the program in my memory where there is no external feedback and anything can happen. There are so many talents and so many different. I did not expect to share a final with artists as strong as the artists I was with. Everything was so tight.
You became the only queen who didn’t receive a single negative review during the two seasons of ‘Drag Race Spain’. How do you deal with being such a perfect drag?
Those who say I am not perfect, I am perfect are not like that… Those who know me for years know that many experiences have a personal baggage. I did everything in this business because I love it and because I have to survive. Fortunately, I didn’t need to devote myself to other things in order to live the things I love. Yes, it’s true that there are times when I have more to do with singing, others acting and others dancing. It has always been about that. My background allows me to do things in a relaxed and comfortable way. I came here to play, make new friends and meet people.
They’re all rivals, but there’s always someone who seems like you’ll have to fight hard to fight for the final. Who was your biggest competitor?
Drag Sethlas, who is perfection for me, is the furthest thing from Sharonne and I find her drag very complex, transvestite engineering. I don’t see this as a sword fight. The only thing you can fight is your knowledge and the way you do things well. There are opinions of outsiders from there, and what any of my colleagues can do is valid. From the beginning my inclination was to have fun, have a truly unique experience, and show that they let me show that I know how to do it. Strong opponents were in the final and we were each a different drag type.
Unlike other competitors, you have had a long journey in this world before, what has the competition brought to your way of dragging and to you as a person?
It gave me movement and change as a person. In this profession, there has come a point where you come to terms with the employer, not the easy one. I’ve been working in stores for a long time and doing what feeds you and getting results faster. It’s been a long time since I did the things I did in the competition, and it’s been great. I am very happy that I dared to embark on this adventure.
In Supremme de Luxe and the previous season, Pupi Poisson made fun of her age. You also got some comments from your colleagues. Do these comments hurt you even if they are ridiculous? Do you think humor has limits? And drag age?
Drag has no age, humor has no limits. At this time, humor is bordered on. In the past there were many humorists who knew no bounds and had a sense of humor. These days, you have to have a sense of humor at home most of the time, which is a shame because they’re putting a fence around us so that no one will feel uncomfortable. We have a culture lately where you have to be mindful of what you say because anyone can get offended. You have to have a little more sense of humor and it doesn’t hurt me to be told I’m the oldest, it’s the truth.
Have you started rehearsals for ‘El Gran Hotel de las Reinas’? Are you looking forward to the premiere?
‘El Gran Hotel de las Reinas’ is opening, and except for Estrella Xtravaganza and me, because filming just finished this week. We start the show on June 22. I will be happy to sing and dance live.
What will we see about Sharonne next? Do you have any projects?
The most urgent project is the premiere of ‘Reinas al Rescate’, a project that Estrella Xtravaganza and I fell from the sky as a result of the chemistry we had during the competition, and the public will also receive it. It’s a very cool adventure, different from ‘Drag Race’ but somehow it claims the same thing. I really want to see how it is. I have been the official host of Barcelona Pride for many years. I would be excited to be there but I won’t be able to go because we are together with ‘El Gran Hotel de las Reinas’. I am very vengeful and I am very happy to work with the entire Pride Barcelona team every year. I am open to anything that may come up that works for the rights of the collective. I am happy to experience everything that comes my way.
