An Alabama court approved this method of execution for Kenneth Smith, who was convicted of contract killing a woman in 1988. The victim, Elizabeth Sennett, was ordered by her own husband, a local pastor, to seek insurance for his wife’s death due to numerous debts. Smith committed the crime with an accomplice who was executed in 2010.
This will be the second attempt to execute Smith after doctors were unable to administer a lethal injection into his body.
