Deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation adopted in the first reading a bill providing for penalties for damage to weapons and military equipment by volunteers. This was reported by TASS.
In particular, the authors of the legislative initiative proposed expanding the legal meaning of the word “soldier”. According to them, members of voluntary organizations should also be included in this category.
After the necessary changes are made in the legislation, the existing rules regarding the financial responsibility of soldiers will also apply to volunteers. Therefore, in some cases they may be required to reimburse the full cost of damaged weapons.
According to the document, this penalty will be imposed if the equipment is deliberately destroyed or used illegally. Volunteers will also have to assume full financial responsibility for theft and targeted damage to weapons.
Additionally, causing damage through negligence threatens volunteers with the obligation to partially repay the cost of damaged weapons. In this case, the compensation amount should not exceed one month’s salary.
Formerly on the Federation Council of the Russian Federation offered New service option for volunteers.
