The head of the department of drug therapy at the National Medical Research Oncology Center named after socialbites.ca told socialbites.ca that the number of patients with non-viral hepatitis is due to overeating and a sedentary lifestyle. Blokhina, President of the Interdisciplinary Association of Liver Tumor Specialists Valery Breder.

“People started eating more and moving less. This trend is very evident among children, they are now extremely overfed, we have a large number of children with excessive body weight and over time they may be at risk,” explained the oncologist.

Additionally, this type of hepatitis can also be caused by excessive alcohol consumption. In advanced cases, the patient may develop liver cirrhosis, which is the main risk factor for hepatocellular cancer. This is a primary liver tumor.

According to Breder, today classical chemotherapy is practically not used in the treatment of hepatocellular cancer, and the main direction of the future in the treatment of this cancer is prevention and screening – early diagnosis in risk groups.

Therefore, people with non-viral hepatitis need to periodically undergo ultrasound, CT or MRI of the abdominal cavity for early detection of liver pathologies.
