Scientists from the Federal University of Minas Gerais in Brazil have developed a drug for drug addicts that prevents the onset of pleasant sensations after using cocaine and its powerful derivative crack. In this respect reports Daily mail.

The drug Calixcoca was previously tested on mice. By triggering the body’s immune response, the vaccine blocks the effects of drugs on the human brain and prevents the appearance of euphoria, hallucinations, drowsiness (or nervous excitement).

The vaccine stimulates the immune system to produce antibodies that bind to drug molecules in the blood. This causes the molecules to become too large to enter the brain’s mesolimbic pathway, known as the reward system.

Now scientists are trying to find out what the optimal dosage of the vaccine should be. The drug can then be tested in humans. Scientists reported that more than three thousand people contacted them to volunteer for the clinical trial.
