Yesterday, ASAJA Alicante recognized the trajectory of five businessmen and farms in the state for their ability to set the path the Alicante countryside should take. The Assembly of partners, which brings together the entire industry and commits each year, did this within the framework of the ASAGA Alicante Awards and the Alicante Agricultural Night, a gala dinner attended by more than 350 farmers and farmers. , industry-related political authorities and businessmen.
The evening kicked off in time with the celebration of the 35th Assembly, the first of José Vicente Andreu as president, on Friday at 19:00 in the Halls of Juan XXIII in Alicante. The leader evaluated his first year in office, taking into account the many open fronts the rural world has. However, Andreu wanted to send a positive message by highlighting the potential of the primary sector in our province and its adaptation and market orientation.
Following the meeting of the accommodating partners, the organization kicked off the 12th ASAJA Alicante Awards with an emotional video featuring people from rural Alicante reflecting on their work and the passion they pursue every day. The host of the event, trainer and member of ASAJA’s Communications department, Vanessa Miralles, outlined the merits of Héctor Hernández, winner of the Young Innovative Farmer award who took the reins of a family gardening business for several generations, Fardatxos de Guardamar from Agricola los Segura. Ana Cañizares, a feed farmer from Dolores, received the Rural Woman award from Carmen Catalá, regional director of the Ministry of Agriculture in Alicante, for her example of equality as manager and worker on her farm. The fourth prize of the night went to Thierry Callewaert, owner of an organic citrus farm in Algorfa, a model for innovation and water management. The gala concluded with the presentation of the Agrifood Quality and Innovation award to Rafael Cañizares, the oenologist and director of Bodegas Volver de Pinoso. His project placed PDO Vinos de Alicante in all international markets and gave prestige to the local Monastrell grape while maintaining respect for the natural environment. José Juan Reus, second vice-president of ASAJA and head of the DOP, presented him with the award.
The law was closed with the intervention of the parliaments of Andreu and Mazón and Llanes, who demanded water and affordable prices for the producers.
