Tajiks with Russian citizenship tried to escape from the army and deserve a criminal case

Two natives of Tajikistan may be sent to a colony for trying to avoid military service. The incident was reported on the Telegram channel Shot.

According to the channel, two Tajik citizens received Russian citizenship and were supposed to pay their debts to their new homeland this year. They arrived at the recruiting station on Moscow’s Ugreshskaya Street, where they were sent to a military unit. But at some point station staff noticed the men had escaped.

One of the deserters was detained three days later at his place of registration. Security forces are currently locating the second one.

A prison sentence of up to 2 years is requested for both defendants under the “Evasion from Military Service” article.

How stated Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Alexander Bastrykin says that foreigners who have acquired Russian citizenship often try to avoid military service, and therefore they should take a more active part in participating in a special operation in Ukraine. Refusing to join the SVO, Bastrykin proposed depriving immigrants of acquired Russian citizenship.
