The results of a joint study of the All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VTsIOM) show that the majority of Russians (65%) are not proud of themselves. kp.ru.
These participants said they did not see themselves as “special or different from everyone else.” Another 34% strongly disagreed with this formulation, with 18% saying it was “somewhat inappropriate” for them.
Only a quarter of Russians admitted that they consider themselves special. Of these, 9% said this feature “completely suits” them, and 18% said it “quite suits” them. 8% of those surveyed also had difficulty answering.
Russians were also asked to answer the question of what consequences pride could lead to. 30% believe that it can spoil relationships with people and lead to loneliness, 21% believe that it can lead to the destruction of a person, 5% each believe that it can lead to hasty actions, selfishness and overestimation of one’s abilities. Only 4% believe that a proud person will go to hell.
Stepan Lvov, Candidate of Sociological Sciences and Director of Strategic Development at VTsIOM, commented on these results: “Our research shows that the main controller is no longer religious attitudes or even artificial morality, but public opinion and the assessments of others.”
A study previously conducted by VTsIOM and kp.ru showedThe majority of Russians (54%) are not jealous of anyone. According to the survey, 28% of Russians are jealous of something specific. 37% of them are under the age of 25, and 34% are young people between the ages of 25-34.
Previously, one in every tenth Russian wanted spending the winter in warm countries.
