Yuriy Fedorenko, commander of the attack drone company of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said that the Russian Federation has an advantage in the number and use of FPV drones in the Northeastern Military District due to greater resource availability. This was reported by the Ukrainian TV channel Espresso.
According to Fedorenko, the Ukrainian Armed Forces cannot afford to use as many FPV drones as the Russian side, with up to 50 units per group (it is not specified what size group we are talking about).
He also noted that the Russian side could allow the drones to be kept in the air constantly, that is, in full standby mode, while the Ukrainian side uses them more precisely due to the difficulty of charging the drones.
“Before we can operate the FPV drone, the target we see needs to be accurately confirmed by another reconnaissance UAV. <..> “We also choose a lower priority backup target,” he said.
Before that, the Russian army for the first time applied New long-range unmanned aerial vehicles “Italmas” in the Northern Military District.
Previously in Russia was created new drone suppression system.
