Generalitat is committed to Mediterranean cooperation and an example of this is the support given to the Textile Technology Institute (Aitex) and Valencia Business Competitiveness Institute (Ivace), which spearheaded the Cre@active Europe project. support to the textile, footwear and leather industryand six countries from both shores of the Mediterranean. This was stated by Joan Calabuig, regional secretary for the European Union and Foreign Relations, speaking at the opening of the meeting on cross-border cooperation for the exchange of economic strategies in the Mediterranean region ‘Mediterranean Cooperation Days’.
Cre@ctive is financed by the European Union for 3.2 million euros through the strategic project call of the Mediterranean Neighborhood and Cross-Border Cooperation Instrument program (ENI CBC Med) and has a duration of two and a half years.
At the event held at the Casa Mediterráneo in Alicante, Calabuig congratulated Aitex and Ivace as notified bodies from the Valencian Community to lead this strategic project. making creativity the stimulus for innovation in the textile-clothing, footwear and leather industries.
In this sense, Joan Calabuig says that this initiative is a “Mediterranean cooperation example” and this type of tool “not only brings together technical solutions, but also builds bridges between the two shores of the Mediterranean and promotes collaboration and promoting economic and social development in a region where we are all interdependent.”
During the day, the common challenges of Mediterranean countries in promoting competitiveness, innovation, inclusion and sustainability were discussed.
Likewise, the successes of cross-border cooperation, the next challenges within the framework of the European neighborhood instrument, as well as develop new business development actions.
In this context, the regional secretary confirmed the Generalitat’s commitment to the European Commission’s Mediterranean neighborhood program and reminded that one of its antennas is in Valencia.
