UN Security Council to discuss Palestinian-Israeli conflict on Tuesday

First Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the UN Dmitry Polyansky said that the meeting of the UN Security Council (SC) on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict is scheduled for Tuesday. He wrote this on his social network account. X (formerly Twitter).

“There will be an open discussion on Tuesday (format of the Security Council meeting in which all UN members can participate – socialbites.ca). The UN Middle East Security Council is a regular meeting,” Polyansky said.

He added that the meeting was planned to be held at an earlier date.

Before that, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov aforementionedIt was stated that Russia is committed to the decisions of the UN Security Council regarding the need to establish a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders.

He emphasized that “it is common knowledge” that Israel is violating this decision with its unilateral actions aimed at expanding so-called settlements.

Lavrov expressed his hope that when Israel and Palestine begin negotiations, the Security Council’s decisions and the facts that emerged after 1967 will be taken into account.
