Scientists from Stockholm University in Sweden found that snoozing the alarm in the morning improves cognitive performance. The results of the study were as follows: published At Willey.

Many people do not wake up at the first alarm, but set the second alarm so they can wake up 10-20 minutes later. Scientists tried to understand whether people who constantly postpone their alarms are different from others.

1,732 adults participated in the study. Scientists analyzed their daily routines and sleeping habits. The survey found that people who snoozed their alarm slept an average of 22 minutes longer in the morning. This habit was four times more common among night owls than among early risers.

Participants were asked to take cognitive ability tests that included memorizing specific words and recognizing them in word sequences, as well as arithmetic tasks. It turned out that subjects who regularly snoozed their alarm clocks had higher cognitive abilities than those who did not.

Scientists hope that further research will further examine this phenomenon and determine the long-term health consequences of sleeping in this mode.
