A study by Rice University researchers found that antidepressants can improve overall memory while reducing focus on negative memories in people with depression. The results of the study were as follows: published At the borders.

Antidepressants are psychotropic drugs used primarily to treat depression. They are prescribed to relieve the symptoms of the disease: anxiety, apathy, irritability, loss of energy, feeling of worthlessness and sleep disorders.

Study results showed that antidepressants may also support healthy memory functioning. 48 people aged between 18 and 35 participated in the survey. Before the start of the study, all of the subjects had been using antidepressants for a long time.

Among the participants were those who did not experience any improvement in their health (or the improvement was negligible) after starting to use the drug. However, those who reported positive effects of antidepressants on mental health also reported changes in memory functioning. It turns out that such drugs help patients stop focusing on traumatic memories.

At the same time, antidepressants have a positive effect on general memory. Patients who reported that this type of drug was effective performed better on memory tests.

Previously was named Exercise that restores mental health.
