Bicycle thief in San Juan Playa: A 36-year-old Spanish man was arrested for at least theft: 12 of these vehicles According to agents from the Northern Territory Police Station Investigation Group II, in the garage of an urban development. Following numerous complaints brought to the agencies’ attention that various bicycles had been stolen, an investigation was launched where it was determined that “they all had the same common connection, the bicycles being parked in a public garage in the same city”. and to prevent their theft, they had broken the chains and anti-theft padlocks that secured them with scissors.”
According to the police, the perpetrator’s modus operandi was to wait for the owner in question to leave the parking lot, sneak in and cut the chains securing the bikes. He would also steal bikes for a month, taking advantage of the owners returning from holiday.
As a result of the investigation carried out by the police, it was determined that a total of 12 bicycles with a value exceeding 5 thousand 500 euros were stolen and a total of 8 victims were affected by these thefts.
Once the perpetrator was identified, he was arrested and charged with multiple counts of theft.
The detainee, who left behind the chains securing the bicycles and the scissors with which he broke the padlocks in one of the robberies, is a 36-year-old Spanish man who has committed similar acts before.
The prisoner was placed at the disposal of the Court of Inquiry on duty at Alicante, which ordered his immediate remand in prison.
To avoid such incidents, the National Police recommends that security measures be taken to ensure that malicious strangers cannot access properties without the permission or supervision of one of the owners.
