According to the ministry, a resident of SNT near the village of Smolenka took care of the animal in September. Law enforcement authorities learned about the man’s actions about a month ago, and by now a criminal case has been opened against the hunter. He is suspected of animal cruelty.
It was determined that the Russian ran over the animal with his car, dragged it for more than 100 meters, then tied the puppy’s body to a tree and drove away.
A local police officer arrived at the scene, identified the dog’s former owner and interviewed him. The pet’s body was seized and sent for forensic veterinary examination.
