Sports nutrients and supplements are consumed by more than one and a half million Russians; The market volume is estimated at nine thousand tons per year. At the same time, the composition of such a product does not fully correspond to the biochemistry of the training process. Alexey Bereznikov, head of the Department of Dietetics at ROSBIOTECH University, told socialbites.ca.

“We analyzed samples of sports products available on the market. A fairly large volume is occupied by products or supplements based on milk protein; there are also some that contain collagen and more precisely muscle proteins. But for athletes with dynamic loads, one of the main goals is to reduce injuries, which is possible only due to the ability of the joints to withstand loads. The main component of joints that provides resistance to stress is connective tissue. “More precisely, its components are elastins and collagens,” he explained.

The second problem, according to Bereznikov, is the need to ensure muscle growth and recovery.

“And milk protein, from which the bulk of sports nutrition is produced, is also not effective enough for these purposes. “The main function of protein, anabolic, ‘structuring’, can only be carried out efficiently if the protein entering the body optimally meets the body’s needs,” he concluded.

Former nutritionist named A healthy alternative to milk and meat in terms of protein.
