To protect the environment, it is important to understand that all environmental problems are global and you need to treat the planet the same way you treat your home. This was stated to socialbites.ca by Vladimir Burmatov, the first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Ecology, Natural Resources and Environmental Protection. He reminded us that most wildfires are caused by human actions.

“The first thing to realize is that there is no such thing as yours or not yours: this is my forest, my tree, my river, my lake, and this is someone else’s. And I will lead one way at home and another way where it is not mine. We have only one planet, this is our common living space and everywhere in this house you need to behave with the understanding that this place belongs to you, because all environmental problems are global, not your own or others’ problems, and treat nature well, ecology, how you should treat yourself, your home, our little brothers It also needs this.

The second is the forest. According to statistics, most fires are caused by anthropogenic influence, that is, by us. No dry storm or natural factor can compare with human actions. Therefore, it is our responsibility to protect the green lungs of the planet. I planted a tree and counted it as an asset. “If you light a fire in the forest, unfortunately, it can cause a fire that will take away thousands of hectares of summer land and dozens of lives,” he said.

According to Burmatov, one person eats five grams of microplastic (one credit card) per year. He noted that refusing to buy bags from a store and recycling paper is already a great contribution to protecting the planet.

“Thirdly, it is clean without garbage. Our carelessness on some issues can cause huge problems for our planet. One discarded AA battery kills two square meters of soil and permanently poisons several cubic meters of groundwater. Accordingly, if you brought this battery to the delivery point and did not throw it away, you can write on your credit that you saved these two square meters of soil and a few cubic meters of water. A discarded plastic bag or plastic bottle will outlive us, our children, our grandchildren, our great-grandchildren, and their great-great-great-grandchildren. It will take 400-500 years for all these disgusting things to decompose in nature, again poisoning the soil, water and our bodies, because each of us eats a credit card every year; We consume five grams of microplastic per year. “A non-store-bought package or a stack of recycled paper is already a big contribution,” he added.

Burmatov also advised us to be careful with water resources and not harm animals in order to “harmonise our interaction with the external environment.”

“The fourth one is water. We are lucky to live in a country that is a global environmental donor in terms of both green lungs and water resources. But this does not mean that they are unlimited. Look what they did to Baykal; today the largest drinking resource on the planet is in danger of extinction, once due to thoughtless industrial policy, now due to massive anthropogenic impacts. These all lead to a multitude of problems, but much of it depends on us, how we treat our water sources, and what lives in those sources.

Fifth, our younger brothers. Don’t underestimate this issue. We are all part of a single ecosystem: ourselves, wild animals in the forests, domestic animals and four-legged animals living on the streets. Therefore, you need to treat them gently: do not kill, do not offend, do not injure. It seems to me that these five rules can harmonize our interaction with the so-called external environment. “Even though it is outside of us, we are only a small part of it,” he said.

Formerly in the State Duma saidwhere a teenager can go to work.
