Scientists from the University of Leicester at the UK’s National Institute for Health Research have found exercise that may slow down aging. The results of the research were published in the journal Science Daily.
In their study, geneticists examined data from more than 400 thousand middle-aged people. Scientists have identified a pattern between fast walking pace and telomere length.
With each cell division, telomeres shorten and the person ages; Dead cells accumulate in the body, leading to weakness and fatigue. The study found that sample participants who preferred walking faster had longer telomeres. Geneticists note that this factor helps them reduce their biological age.
