The United States officially considered the events in Niger a “coup” and stopped providing aid to Niamey TASS referring to Matthew Miller, head of the press service of the US State Department.
In Miller’s written statement, it was noted that the events in Niger that resulted in the overthrow and arrest of Niger President Mohamed Bazoum were officially recognized as a “military coup” by Washington.
“Resumption of American assistance will require action by the National Homeland Rescue Council to reliably and quickly ensure democratic governance,” he said.
