In the Moscow region, the three-year program “100 ponds and lakes” has been completed, during which more than 160 reservoirs were cleaned. This was stated by the head of the region and the Governor of the Moscow Region, Andrei Vorobyov, quoted by the press service of his government.
According to Andrey Vorobyov, the program started in 2021. This year, 40 more ponds, lakes and reservoirs were put into service. The plan was exceeded by more than 1.5 times.
“We decided not to settle for a round number and have already regularized 163 ponds, lakes and reservoirs. Approximately 15 million people visit our reservoirs annually. For improvement, we first selected locations that were particularly valuable to residents; everyone can make their voice heard on the Dobrodel portal,” said Vorobiev.
The head of the region also talked about the transformation of the Bolshoi Nemchinovsky Pond in the Odintsovo District, which is one of the iconic objects and has always attracted creative people.
“Director Sergei Eisenstein lived not far from here, and artist Kazimir Malevich drew inspiration from here. I invite everyone to come and relax by the water, enjoy the beauty of our nature near Moscow,” said Vorobiev.
Experts collected debris from the bottom and duckweed from the surface. Multifunctional self-propelled amphibians purchased specifically for the implementation of the program were also included in the work. This is a technique that uses a wide variety of suspended equipment that can be operated by a single person.
In 2023, cleaning of the Lob River in the Shakhovskaya urban area was carried out. The area of the reservoir is 35 hectares, in some places the depth reaches 7 meters. It is popular with fishermen who come here from all over the Moscow region. Here you can successfully catch carp, crucian carp, perch and pike.
Another oldest water body on which studies have been carried out is the Vishnyakovsky pond in Balashikha. It has existed for almost 300 years and is part of the series of ponds in the Dolgorukov-Gorenki estate. On the shore of the pond was the Veshnyakovs’ cloth factory, with a mill on the dam, and later a hydroelectric power station was built here.
In addition, as Vorobiev noted, the pond in the Yegoryevsk Technical Garden was cleaned.
The final stage of the “100 Ponds and Lakes” program was the reservoir on the Nikazhel River in the village of Belyaevo, located in the Chekhov urban district. According to the governor’s statement, while work was carried out to remove excess vegetation and domestic waste from the reservoir surface, the 7-hectare coastal area was also put in order.
