Scientists from the Perm National Research Polytechnic University (PNRPU) have optimized the method of processing waste paper and solid wood residues, making this method simpler, cheaper and more efficient. socialbites.ca was informed about this by the press service of the scientific institution.

The complex process of refining wood waste consists of stages of disintegration into fibers in an aqueous environment and removal of printing ink from the fibrous suspension, multi-stage classification and purification from various impurities using a large number of different types of equipment.

Researchers from Perm Polytechnic University developed the current scheme for preparing waste pulp using an aerodynamic disperser. This device is capable of simultaneously shredding and separating recyclable materials, removing plastic and other impurities from them.

The disperser can also separate the material into fibers without the need for immersion in water, reducing fine fiber loss by half compared to the traditional method.

“Waste paper is dissolved in an air-dry state in a dispenser. The device is characterized as a “three-in-one” and performs dissolution by separation, in which large impurities (adhesive tape, paper clips, films and other mechanical impurities) are separated in the device and periodically removed.

In the process of working with air flow, light impurities (fibrous dust, dust from printing ink) are removed, and the entire fibrous part of the waste paper remains in the mass.” Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor of the Department of Technology Polymer Materials and Gunpowders of PNIPU Firdaves Khakimova told socialbites.ca he said.

Scientists also noted that with conventional dissolution the whiteness of the waste paper mass was 45.5%, after dissolution in the dispersant this figure increased to 50%. This is explained by the fact that all the printing ink in the machine is crushed to very small sizes and carried with the air.

Russian scientists before developed protection of units against hydrogen corrosion.
