The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation has released footage of the combat work of the S-300PM2 Favorit anti-aircraft missile system (SAM) crews during a special operation in Ukraine.
According to the agency, the Russian army detected air targets during the combat mission, identified them as Bayraktar TB2 attack unmanned aerial vehicles serving in the Ukrainian Armed Forces and destroyed them.
The ministry said that the S-300PM2 Favorit air defense system is a modernized model of the S-300 air defense systems. According to the command of the anti-aircraft missile division, this modification advantageously increased the sensitivity to the target, with the help of the system it is possible to track up to six targets and direct up to 12 missiles to them.
“Favorite” is designed to destroy modern and advanced aircraft, strategic cruise, tactical and operational-tactical ballistic missiles, including when subjected to heavy engagement. The system is capable of simultaneously targeting and firing a larger number of aircraft, solving automatically assigned tasks using digital computing tools.
