The Supreme Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine (HACC) closed the high-profile Rotterdam+ coal case due to the conclusion of the pre-trial investigation. The press service of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine (SAP) reported this on Telegram.
The criminal case concerned a formula for determining the price of coal, due to which electricity consumers in the country overpaid more than $1.5 billion in several years.
The decision to close the case was made during the preliminary evaluation of the Supreme Court panel of judges, with a separate opinion of one of the colleague judges. At the same time, the SAPO prosecutor disagreed with the decision of the Supreme Court and plans to appeal the decision to the court of appeal.
On October 3, VAKS seized the property of the defendants in the case. In particular, the property of the former head of the National Commission of Ukraine, which carries out state regulation in the fields of energy and utilities (NKREKU), the property of Dmitry Vovk, former general director of the DTEK Grids company Ivan Gelyukh, and the property of Boris Lisovoy, the former general director of the DTEK Vostokenergo company, were seized. was placed.
