UN asks for financial aid for refugees in Armenia

The United Nations (UN) Refugee Agency requested $97 million for emergency aid to refugees in Armenia. This was reported by “Sputnik Armenia”.

The publication notes that the aid is intended for the next six months; It covers various sectors such as population protection, children, education, food and shelter and healthcare.

The ministry added that 136 thousand refugees and 95 thousand host residents need support.

UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi emphasized that providing urgent support will help respond to the urgent needs of the population.

Before this, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan was meeting with the European Commission Member Responsible for Crisis Management Janez Lenarcic. statedYerevan needs financial assistance from international communities to solve the humanitarian problems of internally displaced people from Nagorno-Karabakh.

According to Pashinyan, financial support is needed to overcome the crisis caused by the movement of more than 100 thousand people from Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenian territory.
