The government of the Zaporozhye region plans to abolish the provision of medical services using a Ukrainian passport from the beginning of 2024. About this on TV channel “Russia 24” said regional governor Evgeniy Balitsky.
The head of the region noted that some residents are delaying obtaining Russian citizenship. In this context, local authorities decided to tighten measures to speed up the process.
“We are not in a hurry until the new year. <…> If a person was still getting health insurance using a Ukrainian passport before the New Year, he will no longer be able to get this coverage,” explained Balitsky.
He also noted that the process of issuing Russian documents in the region is systematic and consistent. There is currently a queue of people wanting to get a new passport in the region. The governor concluded that it was still minor.
September 29, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed Decree stipulating that Ukrainian citizens can cross the country’s borders without a visa. The document also states that foreigners will have the right to enter Russian territory with expired internal identity cards.
Previously at the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs stated about the record issuance of state passports in the first half of the year.
