Judicial authority responsible for the Mission Court Gran Canarian palms (Instruction 8) ordered Preventive detention of the alleged perpetrator of the attack on lawyer Juan Betancor last Sunday in Santa Brígida on charges of murder, another threat and two charges of illegal detention, without being forwarded to him and released on bail.
The incidents occurred at around 11:00 am last Sunday at a house in the Camino de La Cruz del Gamonal countryside, inside a farm area isolated from the Gamonal Alto payment. The person currently in custody allegedly burned him like a bonsai and then placed him in a closed cistern with no support.
The prisoner, also 72 years old and Cape Verdean, taken from the Gamonal farm about ten years ago by Betancor. He admitted to the facts after his arrest on Sunday,
Lawyer Juan Betancor was initially evacuated by a medical ambulance from the Canary Emergency Service (SUC) to Doctor Negrín Hospital in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The doctors decided that same night that he needed to be transported on a medical plane from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) to Madrid.
