Experts from the University of Texas suggested introducing clitoral transplant operations to improve women’s quality of life. Scientific publication presented by the journal bioethics.
The authors analyzed published studies focusing on clinical cases of genital organ transplantation. In recent years, uterus, ovary, testicle and penis transplantation has become possible, but clitoral transplantation has not been discussed.
According to the authors, this type of surgery may be beneficial for women who have suffered clitoral injuries such as circumcision and are no longer able to experience sexual pleasure.
“We also looked at possible reasons for rejecting clitoral transplants, but none were convincing. We conclude that the main reason why clitoral transplants are not discussed is the devaluation of women’s sexual pleasure,” the authors said.
The researchers also called on the scientific community to pay attention to the problem raised in the article.
