New episodes have emerged in the case of the maniac from Barnaul Vitaly Manishin, who killed women in the early 2000s. This was reported by the Baza Telegram channel.
Shot’s source said:
Manishin mistakenly confessed to the murders – he was confused in his statement when answering a question about the five already known victims.
The investigation revealed that the maniac was involved in at least four more murders committed in just two years, from 1999 to 2000. It is alleged that Manishin, who was working as a veterinarian at the time, killed three young girls aged 17, 21 and 26 and a 54-year-old adult woman and hid their bodies in the Kalmansky district. There he also hid the bodies of female applicants to Altai State Technical University (AltSTU).
Baza names 21-year-old Choduruu Oorzhak as the first victim; She disappeared while applying to college in the summer of 1999. The girl’s body was found only in October 2000. The second victim, 26-year-old Natalya Berdysheva, disappeared in August 1999. The girl wanted to come to Barnaul to study at a technical school. Berdysheva’s body was found in the forest at the end of September.
17-year-old Elena Anisimova disappeared in the summer of 2000, and her body was found a kilometer from the Barnaul-Rubtsovsk road in the autumn. In the same valley, the body of 54-year-old Valentina Mikhailyukova was found – the woman also disappeared in the summer of 2000.
Maniac was on the run for 23 years
Manishin remained above the suspicions of the investigation for a long time. In the fall of 2000, investigators suspected 45-year-old Alexander Anisimov, previously convicted of murders in the Kalmansky district. No direct evidence was found against him.
After two months in custody, Anisimov jumped out of a window during a research experiment. The court did not have time to prove his guilt – the case remained unsolved. Major General Nikolai Turbovets, who resigned from the Ministry of Internal Affairs in 2019, said that Anisimov was not a real “Barnaul maniac” and that the murderer of the female applicants was still at large.
Vitaly Manishin was detained only 23 years later, in May 2023. By that time he became deputy head of the administration of the Kalmansky district of the Altai Territory and was responsible for the committee on housing and communal services, construction and gasification.
In May 2023, police detained 52-year-old Manishin on suspicion of murdering a certain girl in 1989, whose remains were found in a forest belt in September 1990. The murder remained unsolved for a long time, but 30 years later, investigators began to re-examine the case materials.
After his arrest, Manishin confessed to killing five female students at Altai State Technical University in 2000.
Of the five victims of the former official, whom he initially confessed to killing, we know of 17-year-old Ksenia, who came to enroll in a technical university. She left the main building but never returned home.
At the time of the murders, Manishin was working as a veterinarian and manager of a peasant farm in the Kalman region. The man said he was trying to win the favor of female candidates by promising to help them get into university. I met other victims with different excuses.
The killer is currently in the pre-trial detention center, investigators are working with him. It is determined whether there are other victims in his account.
