Most Russians who use marketplaces lack additional options and technologies in online stores. This was shown by a study by analysts of Wildberries Market Papa, the results of which were reviewed by socialbites.ca.

Most often, users dream of starting conversations for flirting and communication purposes (24%). Nearly the same number (23.8%) expect product selections curated by experts such as stylists or interior designers. One in five people look forward to ordering alcohol and cigarettes in marketplaces; about 14% want to get idea options ready for purchase. Russians also dream of being able to pay for utilities (12%), look for a job (12%) and choose real estate (9%) through a familiar platform.

Survey respondents believe that introducing new technologies will help make online shopping easier. For example, almost a third would like to see a robot stylist in markets for wardrobe selection (32%), smart selection of gifts (25%), the ability to place automated orders (18%) and reduce scrolling time (12%). One in five expect that in the event of a complaint against the seller, the platform can warn the buyer that they will have options to control spending (17%) and parental controls (12%).

At the same time, Russians believe that artificial intelligence can provide additional opportunities. Survey respondents are confident that the application will help place orders without human intervention (34%), make individual product selection taking into account the buyer’s interests (16%), make shopping more convenient (16%) and safer (15%). %). Some interviewees have concerns about technology adoption. They believe that spending while shopping may increase (19%) and that online shopping in general may become more dangerous (10%).

Despite concerns, the majority of buyers continue to trust AI to select and pay for purchases due to convenience (31%) and time savings (12%). One in five people will rely on AI technologies to make choices, but will check this themselves before paying. Another 18% are ready to delegate the purchase of clothes, shoes and small items. Yet AI still causes mistrust among some Russians. Therefore, 20% believe that artificial intelligence cannot know their needs, and 16% are not sure about the safety of its use.

“The latest technologies have already changed the field of e-commerce. Neural networks are used in recommendation algorithms, to detect fraudulent activity, in chatbots, and that’s just the beginning. Artificial intelligence can make shopping more convenient and secure. The technology allows marketplace sellers to promote their products without using gray schemes. We can expect even more active application of technologies in marketplaces in the near future. Another trend of the future is the expansion of the functionality of marketplaces, for example, the introduction of social eco-mechanics,” commented Vasily Bumagin, founder of the Market Papa service.

Previously in Russia was recorded growth of online business.
