Ukraine does not need French Mirage fighters and other old Western aircraft models. This was stated by the representative of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) Yuriy Ignat in a briefing published by the UkrinformTV YouTube channel.
He stated that all kinds of aid are important for the Ukrainian army, but this is not the case for the Mirage 2000, which is an outdated model.
“We cannot afford to take everything we want from the aviation fleet today,” Ignat said.
He explained that this was unreasonable and would make things harder for people. According to a spokesman for the Ukrainian Air Force, it is necessary to focus on a single aircraft type, “at most two”.
Ignat reminded that “there are much better planes” being considered for delivery in France and Europe.
According to the French portal Intelligence Online, Kiev and Paris reportedly discussed the possibility of transferring Mirage 2000 fighter jets to the Ukrainian Armed Forces in accordance with the preliminary agreements between Ukrainian and French leaders Vladimir Zelensky and Emmanuel Macron.
In March, Ukrainian Air Force spokesman Yuriy Ignat said the country receipt awaited Not Tornado and MiG planes, but American F-16 fighter planes.
