The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) had to complete a strategic counter-offensive in the combat zone without achieving results within an acceptable time frame. This statement was made by Ukrainian political scientist Vadim Karasev in an interview given to the Politeka YouTube channel.
The expert noted that the Ukrainian army is currently conserving forces and moving in “weakening mode.” He explained that all this was because of the pointlessness of trying to break through the Russian defense line.
“Such counter-attacks, such ground operations in a combined arms format should yield results within a month. “If they don’t give it within a month, that’s it, it won’t happen again,” added Karasev.
In this regard, according to him, the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine decided to abandon the operational-strategic counteroffensive. The political scientist summarized that this is now being carried out in a tactical manner.
September 15, British Financial Times newspaper published Material talking about the suspension of the counter-offensive of the Ukrainian army. Citing analysts, the publication explained that many lessons can be learned from this operation.
At the same time, the most important of them, according to the publication, is the inadequate training of fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the West. As the authors of the article note, during the counteroffensive the Ukrainian army lost almost a fifth of the weapons supplied by NATO countries.
