At EEF 2023, experts from Russia and the countries of the Asia-Pacific region discussed the problems of neo-colonialism, as well as the impact of colonialism on inter-ethnic relations and the economic situation.

“As Russia’s largest center for interaction with Asia, FEFU will help create a scientific basis for further research on the subject. I am confident that joint study on the history of colonialism in Asia-Pacific countries will allow us to strengthen and expand cooperation with friendly states,” said FEFU Rector Boris Korobets.

A total of more than 40 representatives of scientific and educational institutions from China, the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Myanmar and India attended the conference “Colonialism in the East and Its Impact on the Modern World”.

Some of the main topics of the discussion were the impact of colonial policies of Western countries on the development of Asian and African states, colonialism in historical memory, the history and national characteristics of anti-colonial movements.

The VIII Eastern Economic Forum will be held in Vladivostok on 10-13 September 2023.
