Lawyer Gennady Udunyan, who defended blogger Edward Beal in court, will face charges of bribery and hooliganism. This was reported by the press service Moscow Prosecutor’s Office.
The prosecution approved the indictment against Udunyan. The lawyer is charged with hooliganism, intentional minor bodily harm, petty bribery and violating housing immunity.
According to the investigation, Udunyan threatened four people with a weapon-like object while intoxicated in 2021. After that, the lawyer knocked on the door and illegally entered the hotel room on Novinsky Avenue. By using physical violence against the men and women inside, she first damaged her health slightly.
After that, the accused bribed the assistant inspector on duty while he was detained in the pre-trial detention center. In exchange for a reward in the form of two gift cards for hypermarkets and groceries, the inspector gave Udunyan alcohol and food products that were prohibited in the pre-trial detention center area.
