“We use heat-intensive materials that store heat and then release it during a phase transition. One of these materials is crystalline hydrates, simply wet salt. A porous base in the form of carbon felt was used to create the underfloor heating panels.
“We used carbon because it has good thermal conductivity. Together with an infrared heating element, we enclose crystalline hydrates in it. We also get a modular panel that can be used in underfloor heating,” said Morzhukhin.
According to him, such systems usually use paraffin instead of crystal hydrates. But its price is high and it emits less heat. Crystalline hydrates are waste products from metal mining. They are environmentally friendly and inexpensive. There are also quite a lot of them in Russia.
Low cost makes the product affordable.
