Having a pet is not mandatory, but good ownership is mandatory. If you stick to these 5 principles, you’ll be ready to reward your dog’s delivery with loyalty and friendship.

1° Be empathetic to their needs. When you think of owning a pet, don’t just look at everything it can give you, think about what you can provide more of. Will you be able to offer it enough space, enough time, daily walks and adequate care? On the other hand, do all family members agree on this decision? Will they be involved in your care? The answer to all these questions may depend on whether the animal will stop being a cub and continue to live with you when it grows up.

2° Take care of him as he deserves. Write a list of all your needs and commit to providing them. Always protect him from cold and heat. It is true that they are strong animals, but selective breeding and fashion have weakened them. They should never be deprived of clean water or adequate food. This is your right and duty.

3° Educate him with love. Just keep it tied to your hand when walking down the street with you. Do not condemn him to live as a permanent prisoner of a chain that limits his territory. Why do you want a dog to be chained all the time? Also, don’t let him fear and terrorize you, he should always feel like a friend.

4. Take care of your health. Health is not an eternal good. Puppies get old and sick. The vet is your partner and friend. He will teach you to take care of him and heal him when he needs it. Taking them to counseling is not an option, it’s a necessity.

5° Be responsible. Don’t be afraid to love him, hug him or talk to him. And don’t hide when life takes her away and you want to mourn her loss. People who own dogs are connected to them by an invisible line called friendship. Therefore, never leave it. You know you will never do this and that without you your life is meaningless.

Note: These 5 rules can be applied to dogs and other pets. These aren’t hard to follow, but some people just can’t; this is why thousands of animals are still abandoned each year in Spain.
