After the holidays, children usually have a regimen. Louise Istomina, pediatric medical psychologist at the European Medical Center (EMC), says to reinstate this requires resorting to walks, rejecting bedtime cartoons and games, and making a gentle change to bedtime.

“Change your bedtime and wake up 20-30 minutes earlier each day. For example, if a child goes to bed at 23:00 and gets up at noon, try to put him to bed at 22:30 on the first day and wake him up at 11:30,” Istomina told socialbites.ca.

It is also important to include calm evening walks in your life: fresh air will help prepare the body for sleep.

“You should not play computer games or watch cartoons at night: it stimulates the nervous system and prevents falling asleep,” said Istomina.

Find out more about the problems children and parents may face at the beginning of the school year, how to deal with them, create a schedule for the child and re-establish his regime – report Istomina “socialbites.ca”.
