According to the information received TASS From a source close to the Russian Navy, the cost of repair and modernization of the heavy nuclear missile cruiser “Admiral Nakhimov” of project 1144.2 “Orlan” of the Northern Fleet, carried out at the Sevmash enterprise (part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation), has already exceeded 200 billion rubles. The source noted that the cost of the job has nearly doubled since the implementations began, and that figure will likely continue to rise.

According to the agency’s interlocutor, the cost of work and materials for components are increasing, and the Navy’s ongoing work requirements are constantly increasing, often requiring replacement of them.
Earlier, at the Army-2023 International Military-Technical Forum, Vladimir Korolev, deputy head of military shipbuilding at the United Shipbuilding Corporation, told TASS that Admiral Nakhimov will return to the Russian Navy in 2024.
The heavy nuclear-powered missile cruiser Admiral Nakhimov has been undergoing repair and modernization at the Sevmash enterprise in Severodvinsk since 1999, and actual work began in 2013.
According to the head of Sevmash, Mikhail Budnichenko, during the International Maritime Defense Exhibition in June, the cruiser should pass sea trials in December of this year or in May of next year. He noted that by this time, the settings of the cabins, equipment and ship systems will be completed. More than 3,000 people worked on this project and mooring trials were also carried out.
