The Luna-25 space station collided with Earth’s satellite and crashed due to its engine not shutting down. This was told socialbites.ca by Ivan Moiseev, head of the Space Policy Institute. He explained that it is still difficult to name the reasons why the engine did not turn off on time.

“Roscosmos’ message is concise. It turned out that the engine did not turn off. It was supposed to lower the orbiter, transfer it to the landing. And if it is not closed in time, the orbit will decrease and decrease until it intersects the surface of the Moon. That’s what happened. Why did not close, they do not report, there may be various reasons. The result of the commission promised by Roscosmos is really needed here. “I don’t think anyone can say for sure right now,” he said.

According to Moiseev, the crash of Luna-25 makes launching subsequent stations risky, as scientists do not receive the necessary data and landing experience. He noted that with the moon landing, the next launch of the station is scheduled for 2028.

“For the future – 2027, the launch of the Luna-26 is planned in four years. This is not a landing station, it will simply orbit the moon and transmit scientific data from there. The next according to plan is Luna-27 somewhere in the year, namely in 2028. These dates vary, they will depend on how everything goes. But the plan so far is 2028. It should land on the lunar surface like Luna-25 and do extensive groundwork, which in this case is more complex than expected. The next flight is already uncertain, beyond the scope of our current federal space program. In general, hypothetically, this is taking earth from the moon. That’s all that’s written in the programs. Here you can continue to act according to plan. And it most likely will. You should understand that the probability of success decreases with the next (Luna-27 and later, not Luna-26 in orbit) as we do not receive data and landing experience. So this program is getting more risky,” he said.

Sunday Roscosmos knowledgeableAccording to preliminary data, the Luna-25 space station entered an undesigned orbit, collided with the Moon and ceased to exist. Communication with the device was cut off at 14:57 Moscow time on August 19, according to the department.

Roscosmos on Saturday declarationIt is carried out with the parameters indicated that, according to the Luna-25 flight schedule, at 14.10 a blow was delivered to transfer the device to pre-landing orbit, but during the operation an emergency occurred at the station that did not allow maneuvering.

Ancient Russian scientists created Space engines powered by vodka.
