“Shakirzhon Ulpidzhanov was expelled from the Republic of Korea, accompanied by employees of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs NCB Interpol,” Volk said.
He announced that the man was charged with financing terrorism and that a criminal case was opened against him in January. It was determined that the defendant committed the crime in South Korea. The money he transferred to a member of the international terrorist organization Islamic State (a banned organization in Russia) was used to buy weapons.
In March, Ulpidzhanov was detained in Korea. On August 18, he was handed over to representatives of the Russian police for delivery to Moscow.
