About 70 streets, squares and lanes whose names are associated with Russia have been renamed in Zaporozhye, which is controlled by the Ukrainian authorities. This was announced on the Telegram channel by the city council secretary, Anatoly Kurtev.
“As part of the derussification, about 70 streets, squares and lanes have been renamed in Zaporozhye. Nothing in our city should be associated with Russian or Soviet relics, ”the message states.
Kurtev noted that renaming initiatives are presented at every regular session of the city council. According to him, first of all, new names are being considered “in honor of the defenders and defenders of Zaporozhye and Ukraine.”
