Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, The Prime Minister of Niger’s deposed government met with Ouhmoudou Mahamadou and offered him the support of Spain and the European Union in the face of the coup in the African country.

“I met with the Prime Minister of Niger. We examined the situation in the country and the decisions of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

Albares also conveyed on Monday Spain’s support for the sanctions imposed by ECOWAS on individuals and organizations linked to the Niger coup junta.

In remarks to the media while collecting the minutes of the congress, the minister once again called for the release of Nigeria’s democratically elected president Mohamed Bazoum and his family and the re-establishment of constitutional channels in the African country. He also emphasized that: Spain Will not continue bilateral cooperation with Niger Unless the above is fulfilled.
