The Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation is preparing proposals on measures to support the IT industry, in which the age of postponement of hiring will be adjusted. This was announced by the head of the ministry, Maksut Shadayev, reports TASS.
“The Ministry of Digital Development is preparing a proposal to amend the relevant decree in connection with the increasing age for military service,” Shadayev said.
He drew attention to the fact that in the decree of the President of the Russian Federation on the support of the IT sector, there is a separate clause on exemption from compulsory military service up to 27 years.
Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the law increasing the age for conscription from 18 to 30. The law enters into force on 1 January 2024.
On August 8, IT professionals left one day to apply for military service deferment. The Ministry of Digital Transformation will submit the lists to the Ministry of National Defense by 31 August. From October 1 to December 31, the decision to postpone will be made by the draft board.
